Listening to people who know music inside and out because they’ve lived it is my idea of a real good time. This level of understanding is exactly what I’m interested in hearing more about.

I’ve played bass and guitar for years and had the major/minor scales and arpeggios memorized up and down the fretboard. But this podcast is what made the pieces suddenly fit. The scales and chords made sense. Things clicked. And options became available that I didn’t know I had. This approach is...Read full review »

My playing has progressed more in the months following subscribing to this podcast than it has in years of practicing guitar and bass guitar using other methods. Desi’s way of explaining topics, Specifically by giving you small easy to understand bits thoroughly, without assuming you already know...Read full review »

Desi Serna makes music theory for guitar interesting, accessible, and applicable! What more can one say? Love this podcast!

I purchased Desi’s audio/video class on music theory and just in case you don’t want to read the review … it’s worth the money. I’m a bluegrass musician and I was afraid that the class would not be applicable to me because bluegrass rarely ventures above the 12th fret (as Norman Blake said:...Read full review »

I came across Desi on Youtube and his messaging and teaching style immediate resonated with me. I was struggling with my approach and didn’t feel I was making the progress I wanted. Desi pointed me in the right direction and giving me the constructive feedback I needed - “learn songs!”. It was...Read full review »

I discovered Desi on YouTube and loved the way he broke down songs and explained the theory behind it. I’m fairly new to guitar and would consider myself intermediate. I’m at the stage where I don’t want to just learn a song by parroting. So many on YouTube dumb it down too much. But this...Read full review »

Desi is one of the best music instructors I have encountered. He is knowledgeable and has a great ability to convey his knowledge to students. I have a good amount of his teaching material and it has helped me tremendously. I highly recommend everything he creates.

Desi Serna, I wish I would have found you sooner to explain the fretboard theory to me. I have been playing bass guitar for 31 years and since I am a vocalist as well, I have been playing guitar seriously for 20 years. Desi has the ability to explain the fretboard in relation to music theory...Read full review »

Desi Serna is one of my favorite online guitar teacher. As a beginner I feel at ease with his style, not overwhelmed like some other guitar enthousiasts that are out there!
tameesh via Apple Podcasts · Netherlands · 08/02/21
Desi is a gifted teacher. His podcasts offer generous lessons about theory, technique, equipment, the music industry and much more. And his video packages are well worth your money and time. You will not be disappointed.

I Have gone from a strum along and noodle a solo with my band (for the last 20 years!), to opening my mind and playing with some solid listening, reading (I bought his book, it’s fantastic) and lots of practice. I have grown so much. Thanks desi.

Like many, I’d learned basic chords, scales and a few licks. But I never put it together into playing songs. Desi hammers the pooping home that songs are why we play in the first place. I’ve changed my practice habits dramatically, focusing on chord progressions With a metronome. All the guitar...Read full review »

Brilliant. Desi Serna’s relaxed approach also allows you space to develop your own guitar style while also explaining important technical info that’s easy to follow. Both advanced players and beginners will find something useful.

I’ve started listening as I now have a regular 70mile commute so I’m listening to podcasts for the first time. I’ve played for years mainly rhythm by ear including playing in a local amateur party covers band for fun doing a dozen gigs a year. Desi is a gifted teacher, and has mastered the art of teaching via podcast. I have been listening to this podcast nonstop for the past few weeks, and I have had leaps in my playing ability that I never thought would come from listening to a music theory podcast lecture.

I learn something from every one of Desi’s podcasts, and have listened to some of them several time. Probably will listen to most multiple times. Love how Desi explains things and plays what he is explaining as he goes along, and how he breaks down popular songs to explain techniques too. Probably the best podcast for learning guitar that I have found as an intermediate player. He doesn’t go over my head either.

Thank you Sir, your podcasts have taught me a lot. I’m an intermediate guitar player with lots of gaps in my theoretical knowledge. I appreciate you plugging the gaps. Very clear audio. Well written. Cheers Bill.
