Put on, over the top okka accent is unbearable. I work with Australian tradies and they don’t even talk like this.

I am making my way through the back catalog listening to any episode that catches my attention (~70% of them) and overall the podcast is definitely worth your time, the only drawback being Knight himself. Not taking it too seriously sets an appropriate and welcome tone but his ‘Aussification’ of...Read full review »

Half-arsed history is an absolutely delightfully history podcast, filled to the brim with humor, genuine information, and the silliest stories from around the globe. Knight does a fantastic job keeping you invested and entertained even in topics I would not otherwise find interesting. I have...Read full review »

Not sure how I missed this history podcast for so long since I listen to heaps and search for many others. This one is a cracker (excellent for anyone not Australian). In-depth with a little sarcasm check chucked in for good measure. I pleasure to listen to and I await each forthcoming episode....Read full review »

Riley’s podcast gives weekly and entertaining reminders of the unbreakable human conviction that all laws—whether physical, biological, social, ethical or logical—can and should be broken, through the tales of historical occurrences that defy any reach of the imagination.

Many years since listening to Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History, and not really having the time to devote to such long and in-depth history (though they are very good- Blueprint for Armageddon episodes, get across ‘em), I stumbled upon this beaut. Delivered with the perfect amount of humour, these...Read full review »

I always assumed he was just the commentator on the Magic Pro Tour and GPs! Then I found this podcast and having a love for history this is exactly what I was looking for. Despises all the wonderful things that colonialism has brought upon the world. Not a bad podcast when not constantly saying “sorry” for the course of history and progress.

If you like Dan Carlin but think he’s a little too long winded or “hardcore”, Riley Knight is your man. He’s a great mix of solid, compact storytelling of history with a wonderful sense of humor and an impeccable mastery of the French language. What more could you ask for?! Despite the name,...Read full review »

Riley Knight’s immense passion for history is only rivaled by his similarly immense dry humour in regaling past historical highlights. He is an inspired storyteller and puts a great effort into contextualizing the time in which they occur, often putting it into political, economical and even at...Read full review »

Wonderful delivery and research, interesting topics, no filler. My only problem with it is the loud music bracketing each episode. You can’t listen to it before bedtime as a result, so that means many of us will listen to it a lot less.

You’ll think these stories are a work of fiction! The host does an amazing job finding stories from history that are bizarre, and placing them in a meaningful historical context- and it’s funny the entire time! But what sets this show apart, is that there is real substance. Don’t be fooled by the...Read full review »

Riley does a great job each episode. Love the presentation and how he often keeps it lighthearted and when the topic demands it uses a more somber tone. 10/10 podcast, well worth a listen.

Riley’s candor as he recounts pivotal people and periods in history is just a joy. He’s able to also draw important contextual relationships to modern times (see The Black Death, Mar 2020). Good show mate!

Great podcast, highly entertaining bite sized slices of history that doesn’t take itself too seriously. As title suggests it’s not somewhere you’d go to study for an exam. Can’t tell you how stoked I was to find that my favourite commentator has a podcast of my favourite genre.
