Good range of history topics
This is a bit like the magazine on which it is based. The topics centre around UK history (ranging from Big Ben to Henry II to the history of swimming) and they are generally competent but not too in-depth. An easy half-hour's listening but if you are looking for academic grunt or the passion of a Dan Carlin then go elsewhere. Sound quality can vary a bit, especially with phone interviews, but is generally acceptable. I find it a fair substitute for the hard copy magazine, which is getting a little pricey here in Australia.Read full review »

More reviews of History Extra podcast
Not a bad podcast, sometimes the sound quality can be a bit off (especially if they're talking to someone over the telephone or skype) but overall it's a generally informative podcast and a great companion to the magazine.Read full review »

Very interesting with great subject matter. Descriptive labelling could be more enlightening, but don't let that put you off listening. Really worth listening to.Read full review »
