A gem that utterly destroys the oxymoron of „fun German History“
Who would have believed ? German History CAN be fun. You just shouldn‘t leave it to the scholars ! Episodes are well researched - and Dirk‘s tongue-in-cheek humour (that makes one seriously doubt his nationality) turns something that would otherwise be a dull educational exercise into enthralling entertainment. Let‘s put it this way: you can perhaps fathom the quality of this podcast when I tell you that it motivated me, known to be stingier than a Swabian, to finally sign up for Patreon and pay for a subscription as long as I will listen to further episodes. Quality content required recognition - and the production quality of this podcast can serve as a textbook case of „deserving recognition“ ! Really looking forward to many more episodes.

More reviews of History of the Germans
...but I can add that this is an auditory pleasure due to both the excellent content and the well-spoken Dirk H-B—in contrast to the sad current crop of citizen podcaster ramblings full of stuttering, stammering and suchlike disfluencies.

I’m always happy to find a new history podcast and this one is great so far. Informative and well organized. Very happy so far.

OMG
Where to start. This must be the most boring history podcast I have ever listened to. Completely scripted and read from a sheet including the very bad jokes. After listening to the first six episodes I can’t stand it any longer. Medieval history is my favourite thing but this one is a joy killer.
