Dry
I applaud the efforts of the podcaster to cover such a vast and nuanced period in history, but you can't do a podcast reading off a piece of paper. It's rich and detailed but it doesn't capture attention because it's obvious the material is being read from previously prepared material. I'm sure it's the podcasters own words but he should learn the material well, and then prepare bullets to remind him as he tells each story of the time period he's explaining. In other words he needs to learn how to add-lib and tell a story. Dan Carlin is a master at this. And the British History podcast is another good example. Reading the material makes it sound very dry. I think this could be a great podcast, but the guy just needs to loosen up a bit, through in the occasional aside, and a put down the material and simply tell the story in his own words. It's not live radio so even if he does forget sometimes he can just stop and start again.Read full review »

Wesley has set himself an Herculean task here. I have listened from the start and Wesley has much improved as he has grown into the job. He is easy on the ear, has researched very thoroughly and covers distinct segments of the war with admirable attention to just the right amount of detail. ...Read full review »

Putting together a week by week podcast on the Great War is a huge, complex task. Kudos just for attempting it; double kudos since the end result is actually an interesting, well edited, well delivered history lesson. Nice job.
