The most irritating and awful voice i have ever heard , somewhere between upspeak and vocal fry. Please take some voice lessons cause this podcast is unlistenable.sorry but just because you can doesn’t mean you should and whoever greenlit this is either trolling or cruel.

Lindsay is the best! I started off with her YouTube videos and now listen to her podcast. It honestly feels like learning about history from your favorite, cozy aunt.

Reading aloud in a sing-song voice is not my idea of a good podcast host.
EmLeFay via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/29/24
I ADORE Lindsay and originally found her on YouTube. This Podcast is just as good as her videos and make for perfect easy listening but still entertaining and occasionally funny.

I listened to part of the Transgender people through history episode. While I found the information interesting, the voice performance was atrocious! The person who taught this woman how to speak and read should be drawn and quartered! Terrible pronunciation; a very robotic and repetitive...Read full review »

Absolutely baseless speculation plays into misogyny.

This podcast is all great. All I want is a podcast that just goes straight to the facts and this is it, however the speaker could speak slower and I never say this, but she could speak with less expression…

This podcast is awesome It is so good much better then her YouTube Channel and your voice is so calming.

Excellent podcast. However I wished that the host spoke slower and most of all, regulate her voice. Indeed, one consonant is very high, followed by a very low consonant so much so that I can’t pickup all the words. Thank you.

Like others, I wanted to like this podcast. The voice is beyond difficult to listen to. Also, the lack of proper transitions between time periods, locations, and royals means every topic switch, listeners have to be a detective to figure out she is now talking about a new ruler. It is easy to add...Read full review »

I’ve been reading a lot about the Sultanate of women and Hürrem in particular, so was interested to listen to the episodes on this. But a lot of assumptions or rumors were presented as fact, from concubines former names to Ibrahim Pasha supposedly being married to the Sultan’s sister. Names were...Read full review »

I’ve been a watcher of Lindsay’s YouTube channel and a listener of her podcast for a long while now, and I enjoy every upload of both!

Too bad because the topics are great but the voice is unbearable . It’s like she does it on purpose.

Was so excited to listen to this podcast, figured when I heard her promote it on other podcasts that she was pretending to be annoying for attention. But no, I can’t bear her condescending tone and pronouncements.

I so wanted to love this podcast. It was advertised on another history podcast I listen to. The topics seemed interesting. I can’t bear to listen. The readers cadence is so annoying. I’m so sorry because it seems well researched and interesting.

I enjoy the content of this podcast, but the way Lindsay speaks is so grating. It’s like a valley girl hosting a children’s show.
June29936 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/05/23
Can’t handle how she speaks. Sounds like she’s forcing to be proper & she’s speaking to kids. Some parts sounded fine. Will give another try but not till I think she might sound like a normal person talking to adults.

I love history, especially the look at history to get the facts straight without the spin, but I couldn’t make it 3 minutes listening to this podcast. The voice of the podcaster is atrocious as to how the accent (or whatever it’s called) at the ending of sentences. It reminds me of the movie clip...Read full review »

I’ve been listening to History Tea Time YouTube videos while doing my housework. I am ecstatic to find the podcast so now I can take it with me in the car! Apart from the voice, at this day and age I would expect a bit of care taken in the pronunciation of the names. Most egregious is the accent on the wrong syllable of the Medici family name. Actually Aphra Ben was equally atrocious, if not more so. It’s an English name, for god’s sake!

Part of what makes a podcast good is the quality of the listening experience. Though I like the content and come here for it, I usually stop listening because the ads are so dang loud and obnoxious. Part of the host’s responsibility is to curate a good experience and that includes the ads you allow.

This could be a great podcast however the sing-song narration is aweful.

However, hate to be grammar police but if you are going to educate the masses, make sure you sound educated yourself. The singular of the plural word “Millennia“ is “millennium”. One millennium two millennia. Gloucester is pronounced “gloster”.
Toutou28 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 06/17/23
The overall podcast is entertaining and well done but the author needs to work on her pronunciation of Turkish, Arabic, and Persian names and words. It is very jarring to hear names and proper nouns mispronounced over and over again throughout an episode. Importantly, the author is not sharing up...Read full review »

Irritating sound effects via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 06/07/23
The voice of this podcaster is the worst. She speaks in a childlike song-song rather than someone addressing adults. Her voice is monotone at a horrible high pitch. The clipped sentences and odd pauses make it difficult to listen to.
Ddollero via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/05/23
These are pretty lazily thrown together from her YouTube videos, with almost no regard to editing out, say, a reference to a painting we can’t see or repetition of info when several episodes are stitched together. A little more care would go a long way.
squirreltooth via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/18/23
The subjects chosen are really interesting and seem well researched. My issue tho is the pace of the voice it sounds like those text to speech video you hear on youtube, theres mostly no punctuation or intonation so it makes it all quite dull.
