Carrier's voice is calm and curious, modest, respectful. He can like the people he disagrees with, and them him in return. More a pilgrim than a crusader. I was moved by a deep sense of how sanity and decency can take the edge off our fear and anger and hatred and righteousness, and a powerful grief for our ailing humanity.
