I’m a tree hugging wilderness lover who’s sometimes a little exasperated with the hand-wringing around climate change. I really appreciate the nuance and perspectives brought into this show.

Really interesting show in the first couple of episodes, especially as they talking about history of these spaces and perceptions of wilderness. However, at any point that the show wanders into defending people that are rude, loud, and obnoxious in the wilderness, it goes off the rails. Let’s be...Read full review »

This podcast series dove deep into the history of Wilderness in the United States and the current reckoning of its well-meaning but prejudice origins and simultaneously valuable ecosystem conservation. I would be very interested in hearing a second season that perhaps addresses Wilderness in the...Read full review »

Equating a concept like Leave No Trace with controlled burns feels like an unfair comparison when leave no trace is widely a for the PUBLIC to be more mindful of their impact (something many people still don’t do). I liked the production and how all the themes are layered together to form the topic of the podcast. This...Read full review »

Understanding that the world has had land stewards for 1000s of years seems obvious once it is explained. Hearing of the devastation to our beloved Sequoias is heartbreaking. I hope the replanting and the stewardship of these nearly decimated groves continues unhindered. I would bet a lot of...Read full review »

I loved listening to this podcast and traveled through Kings Canyon and Sequoia national Park this summer. We were there August 12 and left on Tuesday the 13th. I look forward to returning and spending more time. The giant sequoias were something to behold and something to protect.I have many...Read full review »

Accurate, in depth, and well-told reporting on a critical piece of American history that too often goes uninterrogated!

Fascinating and different perspective on the idea of wilderness as we know it. Anxiously waiting for the next episodes.

Marissa Ortega-Welch is a capable guide in exploring and explaining all the ways our conceptions of wilderness are, and aren’t, useful in a modern world. This show is amazing!
