"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day-in and day-out." — Robert Collier
This episode discusses the importance of taking the time to celebrate small wins and find joy in everyday moments. We often only celebrate when we reach major goals or milestones, but we should appreciate progress along the journey, too.
This podcast episode explores how society desaturates celebration with an overindulgence of addictions - like food, entertainment, social media, etc.
Instead, we know that true contentment comes from healthy connections and appropriate dopamine levels. We advocate redefining success to include little victories that happen through consistent effort over time, not just end results judged by others.
It is like looking at the success and celebration of an Olympic diver. Her daily training is her success - worth celebrating, even though spectators only see and celebrate a 30 second performance.
We want to encourage you to celebrate each other's wins and joys at a weekly meeting, whether tasks finished or unexpected blessings. The goal is recognizing journey and progress.
Here is a practical idea on how to keep your weekly meeting up to date and interesting: Keep an ongoing list on your phone of people, places, and things that brought joy that week to foster gratitude. What happened that you can celebrate?
The sample list demonstrates wins can be major like a successful event or minor like play time with friends. God's provision of insights to bless others is celebrated too. The list reflects aspects of all your relationships or events that happened - all of them are important.
Defining success more broadly fosters lasting contentment on the path of life. We encourage you to pause - at least weekly - to appreciate small delights, create more motivation and change your mindset. We have found that consistent, weekly reflection sustains this habit of celebration with God.
