Description
Are you the type of person who puts everyone else first? The one everyone runs to when they need advice on taking their ideas to the next level?
And maybe you’ve loved this support role, in the past but...you're ready to step out of the shadows.
Right now, you’re seen as the friendly sidekick, rather than a visionary or a leader. You believe in your potential and your immediate colleagues would be lost without you, but leadership doesn’t even know your name.
You have more to offer this world.
You might even be ready to strike out on your own. You’re definitely hungry for more. But how do you make that leap?
I’m Sarah Mikutel, a fellow INFP Enneagram 9, and I know that even though we’re super laid back, accommodating, and sometimes indecisive, that doesn’t mean that we don’t have our own ambitions.
To achieve them, we have to get more comfortable sharing our voice with the world and putting ourselves out there.
This podcast is an artistic experiment that I’m using to stretch out of my comfort zone. It’s an audio diary of sorts and maybe it can help you, as well.
I host two other podcasts that are very structured and planned: the Postcard Academy travel podcast, which features women, like me, who packed up everything to start a new adventure in another part of the world, and Podcasting Step by Step, which teaches people how to podcast.
Yes, I’m podcast obsessed -- I listen to, create, and help others launch their podcasts.
My background is in journalism, creative writing, and creating content for companies, all of which I love.
But I want to get more comfortable giving speeches and speaking off-the-cuff.
If you’re like me, you love having one-one-one conversations with people, but the thought of getting on stage or being asked to speak about a random subject for five minutes, makes you never want to leave the house again.
But we’ve built up these fears in our head to be a big deal, when they’re not. We’ve created these negative thoughts and feelings, and we have to shift our mindsets and break through this if we want to achieve our dreams and our goals. Because negative thinking holds us back from taking action and changing our lives.
This year I’ll be doing cringey things like taking improv classes, public speaking, and going Live on Instagram.
And also not scripting or editing this podcast. Not much, anyway. This is an exercise in getting more comfortable with not being perfect.
If you want to thrive more this year, and think listening to this audio experiment could help you out, hit subscribe and follow along.

I’m reading David Fideler’s excellent book Breakfast with Seneca, where he quotes Seneca in one of his letters:
“If you want to escape your troubles, you don't need to be somewhere else: you need to be someone else.”
