Very boring audiobook
Natiko via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/07/11
The author tries so hard to make his reading sound intense and dark that it comes off as a joke. It's painful to listen to, and the story wasn't that good, either. Some people say it gets better with time. But the poor reading is so distracting that I can't finish the second episode. I know...Read full review »

The fact that the villion's name is Raven Claw made me think of Harry Potter pissed me off. And the author is very boring. I wish he had gotten someone else to do it. His narration is very repetitive and has a habit of describing ordinary things is awful. However, I have read all three novels and...Read full review »

If you can go through the first chapter, you can make it through the book. I liked the story, and if I had gotten the actual book (if there is one) I would've liked it a lot. But... The writer has a horrible accent and does a horible job voicing. His women voices are pukey. On top of that, more...Read full review »

The premise is ok, if it weren't for the fact it is a total rip off of Harry Potter wannabe. The author is horrible at reading his own work. The music/sound effects are distracting. Redundant in phases. Annoying with the voices. I listen to the whole book and have decided not to go on with...Read full review »

Really enjoyed this, really enjoyed the second book, and currently enjoying the third in this brilliant trilogy. Heres hoping there will be more. J A Areces narrates brilliantly giving each character a voice of their own. Highly recommend this podcast if u like wizardry & magic.

The story was pretty good, though obviously a first attempt. There are Manu instances of repeated discriptions of the same thing in successive sentences, and giving the full name of the store every time was a little wearing. Character development was good, but could have been more refined. In...Read full review »

Yes the story is good. He should have gotten someone else to read. He is slow, emotionless and seems to me to emphasize some hispanic ethnicity. I did like the story, but only got through a couple chapters before the bleeding from my ears stopped me.

The Story line is good & has great potential, but Im having a real problem with the writer. Maybe if he had someone else read, used his background sounds and didn't say the full name of the store in every sentence...I could give more stars. Earlier reviews did say the beginning was tough so I'll...Read full review »

Captivating? Definately. I couldn't stop listening to this and have done several times. J.A.Areces has you under his spell with this gripping story, the characters appear so real, wish they were (or at least the good guys). The music accompaniment is fantastic (note so self, see if they have an...Read full review »

The first couple chapters were a bit rough, however by the fourth chapter I was really enjoying the story.

This podiobook is simply brilliant. It is over all very well written, well read and the mood sounds and music just take it one step further. J. A. Areces should be very proud as this is a book that undoubtedly holds its own in comparison with "real" audiobooks. In spite of a few grammatical...Read full review »

I enjoyed this podiobook more than I would have thought. Areces was a little slow in the early chapters and tended to repeat himself. But you could definitely see him grow as a writer as the story progressed. This is a story about a normal guy (Jessie) who finds a job through the internet working...Read full review »

This well-written novel by (far as I can tell) first-time podcaster J.A. Areces is a fantastic novel about witches, wizards, and finding oneself after high school. There are elements similar to many popular magic-infused novels of today and includes pop-culture references of our day and age. My...Read full review »

Unreadable, undeveloped, formulaic slop.

Kicks Harry Potter's butt. Drew me in to the story in less than 20 seconds.
