There is a lack of coverage on the subject and this show helps fill that gap. Unfortunately, the hosts’ aren’t great speakers and their equipment makes it difficult to listen for a whole podcast.

And most importantly, accurate! Speculation is a huge aspect of irregular warfare but from everything I’ve seen with my own 2 eyes, these talks are the highest quality of information you will come across. Find any subject in here and have a listen. You won’t be disappointed

LOVE this podcast! I walk away from each episode with several new research ideas and more insight into how practitioners think about irregular warfare. I’ve assigned episodes on my course syllabi and they’re always a big hit with the students.

Very high signal to noise in the fifty or so episodes I’ve listed to so far. Excellent moderators, real practitioners with real experience not your usual talking heads doing the podcast circuit reliving past glories. I’d recommend anyone who even tangentially involved with these topics to give...Read full review »

This podcast is straightforward. The guests are knowledgeable and thoughtful. The presentation is without extraneous nonsense. And the topics are important to understand the world we live in now, and what are the various scenarios for the future. Should be required listening by every government...Read full review »

The 20 year retrospective episode was a brutally honest and incisive analysis of the the last 4 decades plus of US and Allies military intervention and activities. It highlights the faults in both the political and military spectrum, the failures to learn from experience, and inability to hold to...Read full review »

Very informative but over the last 6 months or so the guests have exhibited very left leaning political bias and narratives that detract from their the objective nature of the topics.

This is a great place for learning about stuff that you thought you might have known about. The content focus is on what can we learn now that we should know, but might not, or have previously considered but misunderstood. This show is an excellent vehicle for anyone interested in the future...Read full review »

Unusual and refreshing combination of analysis and conversations. Somber and judicious, yet incisive and nuanced. Seeking truth in domestic and international war strategy without fear of following ideological narratives is commended.

I knew little of this area beyond what is on the news. This article is a good overview of the situation. Also of note is that there are factions that would prefer to keep the fighting going because of the money that comes in to the area from NGOs and other sources because of the on going conflict.

Been listening since the beginning of the podcast and as much as I love the show, I had to bring up the myopic focus in the security cooperation. In an almost hour long show about the security cooperation enterprise the role of the State Department was a only mentioned twice, once about Secretary...Read full review »

Very disappointed that there was NOT one mention of Doha Agreement. Afghanistan could never have been won. Corruption. Tribal politics. Try to be objective when discussing the fall of the country last year. Carter’s thoughts were interesting. It’s amazing to me how many military history books our...Read full review »

Why should we listen to you when you have been wrong about everything for the past 30 years? All these types of podcasts say the same thing about building alliances, deploy all over the world etc. but we have been doing that for decades and we are worse off today than we were in the 90’s.
