“My love and knowledge about my home, Los Angeles, has grown SO much since moving away to San Diego and I owe most of that to Daniel and Greg. I find myself recognizing names like Helen liu Fong or knowing what ARCO stands for and asking myself “wait how do I know that?”- the answer is usually LA Meekly. Their nerdiness has grown on me and I find this podcast not only extremely educational but comforting to listen to, I can listen to episodes multiple times. My roots in LA and my annoying tendency to start sentences with “did you know that…?” are even stronger because of the dense research they put together into something listenable and entertaining. I wish every city had a podcast like this. Thank you both!”

“And just wanted to correct one thing - “laowai” is basically just foreigner, “gweilo” is more similar to the “white ghost” connotation, though it still doesn’t really specify whiteness though often used toward white foreigners”
