A safer choice of podcast
Recently I was on holiday in New Zealand doing a road trip with my wife. I'd gone to the trouble of saving up the last few WWII podcasts to listen to as we traveled. Very Bad Idea. It wasn't too bad during the first three or so episodes, but by the fourth episode no amount of the second world war's drama and action could overcome the soporific side effects of Ray's dulcet tones and I was drifting rapidly towards sleep. After a few close calls with the sheep scattered along the roadside, a quick check of my podcast feed alerted us to a fresh Life of Alexander episode, and once we had switched to listening to that, the lively banter combined with the action and drama (as well as the monumental event of the episode actually being about young Alex) meant that we made it to our destination relatively safely. Thanks guys. **As a side note, Ray's WWII podcast is great, it's just that like other sedatives it shouldn't be consumed while operating machinery.Read full review »

In their usual style, the history is delved into in test depth, with little asides - only a few hours worth so...Read full review »
