Love the podcast, thank you! For a layperson like me sometimes it’s on the outer edge of my interest and understanding. Meaning I might not remember a lot about the IPA letters after hearing about them. But I wish I could!

I've been listening to Lingthusiasm for quite a while now. One thing that keeps me coming back is the hosts' genuine love for the subjects of linguistics, language, and communication. You can hear the joy shine through in their voices as they speak. You feel the visceral delight at a...Read full review »

Recently caught up and now I'm in withdrawal between episodes! I don’t study linguistics but both of my sisters do and it's great to have an entry-level way for me to learn enough to ask them about stuff that they're learning in school!Read full review »

I love linguistics, and this is a great podcast. I recently discovered it and started from the beginning. I’m on episode 53 and what I find most annoying is a) gretchen talks way too fast (and this is coming from a fellow Canadian), and b) the amount of air time that is taken up by them asking...Read full review »

I love this podcast. While I may not share the deep geekery on this subject, I’m happy to learn more.

As a linguistic nerd, lover of languages, and kindergarten teacher at a dual immersion school, this podcast fascinates me. You do an amazing job. I’ve recommended to various co workers. Thank you! (Am also wondering if potentially I could get a couple of months of bonus material for free…I’m so...Read full review »

Super fun to and excited to hear what they have to say . Gretchen ends up throwing me off I get anxiety from her fast, loud speaking. I understand the anxiety is my own. Both hosts are amazing and we can all learn a lot from both hosts.

I’m not a linguist, but I love this pod. It’s fascinating as a lay person, thanks!!

I highly recommend this to fellow language and linguistics lovers, as well as to anyone who wants to learn something new today! The podcast manages to be both informative - touching on interesting topics and interesting to listen to I play this while in the car, cleaning, etc. all the time c:

There aren’t many good linguistics resources accessible for different ages, as a teenage linguistics nerd I can confirm that. This, however, nails the spot as complex enough to be interesting, however not so complex that you require a PhD to understand. The wide variety of topics covered is...Read full review »

Lingthusiasm is so much fun! I’ve listened to countless episodes at this point and love it. I’ve learned so much, and funnily enough, when I’m having a lot of anxiety, popping on an episode really helps me relax. Thank you, Lauren and Gretchen!

This podcast is delightful dive into the totally wild world of linguistics, that feels like you’re listening in on 2 brilliant friends having a chat. It’s changed the way I think about the my speech, especially on dating apps.

Outstanding podcast! Recently discovered it about a month ago, and I have already binged all 59 episodes. Can’t wait until more episodes are released. Hope we get more podcasts regarding some of the language families. Super interesting topics!

What an amazing team the two of them make. They are slick, rehearsed and erudite. There’s none of the usual podcast chit-chat. It’s all golden content. I’m in Africa and I’m very critical of people who ignore us. This podcast uses examples from African languages sometimes and is very balanced in...Read full review »

Fantastic! I love linguistics, and this show is a wonderful example of the field. It’s understandable without talking down to the audience. I love the hosts’ enthusiasm and interplay.

Cheerful chat with fascinating pieces of information from the world of linguistics (e.g. different languages have entirely different genres of small talk--who knew!?)

Love the content ladies!! The dynamic is a little odd, Gretchen’s high level of energy is paired with the more calming cohost. It’s oil and water at times. I know they are extremely smart but I almost want to tell Gretchen to stop whatever stimulants she is on and tone it down a little.
Scoobsnackage via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/23/21

I listen to this show regularly. I’m a hobby linguist who loves listening and reading anything that has to do language. I have to say that at first I wasn’t so sure about Gretchen. This is a great podcast! I like that the hosts are a fellow Canadian and an Australian because it allows for different perspectives. I like learning about language but I’m not an expert and they’re still easy to understand even though they use technical terms.

As someone that’s always lay on the fringes of linguistics - using it consciously in my work, but never quite understanding the building blocks of it all - this podcast has been invaluable. Great chemistry between the hosts sharing accessible and fun insights, I could not recommend it more strongly.
