“I got through the first season before I wrote the review. Part of me really thinks this should be a three star review, but: I'm new to reviewing podcasts. I had mixed feelings about this one.
On the positive, it is very atmospheric, it doesn't hold your hand through the story. All good horror requires that the reader fill in the gaps on their own. Mabel *feels* creepy. You're never quite sure what is going on, the narrator is as much a mystery as the house and the woman she is watching after.
...and that is also one of the darwbacks. Maybe the gaps are *too* big. I listened to the whole first season and, beyond a few details (she's watching a woman with Parkinsons in a strange house, strange things happen there, I think there might be a ghost? At some point I think the woman dies (or nearly dies?). Then the ghost comes out and...?
Long story short: I have *no* idea what is going on. You can *tell* there is a ghost (is the final twist that the woman has been dead the whole time, or that she died in the garden that one time?), because of audio distortion. That part is made abundantly clear.
Bottom Line: it's a creepy show where not a whole lot happens, or maybe it's one where an absolute *TON* happens and you just have to piece it together from context clues I didn't gather.”Read full review »
