It was better than "Cats:". I'm going to listen again and again...
I am not a lawyer. I am a private citizen who is interested in the law, and in particular First Amendment law. I am also a big fan of the Popehat blog. So when Ken White announced he was doing a podcast on First Amendment law, I was thrilled and excited. Ken failed to disappoint. Some specific things I genuinely liked: * the production values are actually higher than I expected. I wasn't expecting "Ken Shouts Into a Soup Can", of course, but the first episode was well recorded and mixed, and the music and sound design were both very good. * I was kind of familiar with West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette from some previous reading of mine (a long time ago in another country), but I had not heard of Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire, or the historical background of the various Jehovah's Witnesses's cases, so this was all fascinating to me. Shawn Peters was a great interview choice: thank you for having him on. * It was just about the right length for my tastes. Of course, no good podcast is ever too long, and no bad one is ever too short, but 30 minutes is right in the sweet spot as far as I'm concerned. * There were not any advertisements for mattresses, packaged meal delivery services, or web hosting. Highly and enthusiastically recommended. The world would be a much better place if everyone listened to this podcast.Read full review »

Reading Popehat’s blog for years now, I’m more careful when considering matters of policy. The inclination to exercise state power against those who annoy me is an impulse I am better able to identify and resist and one I will readily caution others against. The podcaster makes a pointed argument...Read full review »
