Why would I listen to a whole podcast?

This Is A Good Podcast

I listen to a ton of political podcasts and this is my favorite. Ed had the best 3-4 minute explanation of why third party candidates can’t get a foothold in US politics that I’ve ever heard, and I’ve used it myself to look smart (without attribution!). Honestly I was thinking of restarting from...Read full review »

Terrific show by a very knowledgeable guy. Seems perfect for a bigger network like How Things Work, which I listen to a lot of. But I feel fortunate that this guy is available to us through his own goodwill. Excellent educator. Excellent story teller. Knows a lot of arcane and obscure things. But...Read full review »

This is my favorite podcast. It’s interesting and informative and doesn’t blather on and on the way many podcasts tend to. Also, gin cocktail recipes!

You’ll wont even notice that he’s recording this in a closet.

This podcast has it all, the best fake sponsor ads in all Podcastdom, weird historical trivia too crazy to be true, interviews with smart & interesting people and a gin cocktail recipe to top it all off. We all need something to get us through this, Mass for Shut-In helps a great deal.
Stupefacient McGee via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/27/18
Ed always serves up interesting, funny, and smart content, and Mass for Shut Ins is no different. It's must-listen stuff. The only complaint I have is that I have to wait a month between episodes! It's changed my life, yada yada.

Great podcast

Exceedingly smart political commentary doused in sarcasm, wit, and disbelief in the current state of American culture. A depth of knowledge, and arcane, esoteric references you won’t find anywhere else!

OP is known for his other projects, which have a kind of biting distance attached to them. This is a more standard format - interview, story, 2 recurring bits - which also suits him well. Interview subjects and interviewing ability are both high quality, and the stories are top-notch. A+ would...Read full review »

The Gin and Tacos podcast made me into the person I am today: about 5'11'', smooth-chested, with a bit of a lisp. I can also usually palm a basketball. Thanks Gin and Tacos!Read full review »

I’m a Luddite but I learned how to do podcasts just so I could listen to Mr Gin & Tacos’s “Mass for Shut-Ins” the podcast.

I love the Facebook page and blog, so I had to give the podcast a listen. Ed is just as hilarious through this medium and he is on social media, but I think I learn a bit more through the podcast, which is great. I’m not a gin drinker, but I love the recipes segment of the show as well.

This show is a lot of fun for fans of booze, informed political discussion, and obscure trivia. That's everyone, right?

I've been following Gin & Tacos for years and was excited when Ed announced he was going to launch a podcast. It doesn't disappoint. Great political analysis shot through with humour. Love the Gin cocktail segment.

This podcast is only five episodes in, and it has quickly become a favorite. Ed Burmila has a gift for storytelling with humor, and is able to make even the most dry of political topics seem interesting and imminently relevant to the layperson. Also the musical interludes are dope.

Consistently funny and informative, I always look forward to the next episode! That’ll do, Ed. That’ll do.

Mass for Shut-ins is like a good public radio magazine show. Smarter than it is slick, topical without being Worthy, with interesting guests, and cocktail recipes you can use. Looking forward to more.

I like gin. I like tacos. However, I do not like tacos in my gin - that’s what Oreos are for.

Ed's a great writer and I've been a blog fan for years. I wasn't sure that it would translate to a podcast... BUT IT SO DOES. Every episode gets better, too. Great guests, fun parody sponsorships, and just a bit of booze.Read full review »

I've been a regular reader of Ed's blog Gin and Tacos for years and the same entertaining blend politics, humor, and historical obscuria is now in podcast form. The content was always great but the quality is improving in every episode to make this one the total package. Ed is a clear thinker and a great communicator in a time when we need as many of those as we can get.

Having been loyal followers of Gin & Tacos on social media, we are pleased to be able to show our allegiance on yet another platform. Keep it up.

I do not think I’d have survived the last couple years of American lunacy without Gin & Tacos, at least not with the tattered shreds of sanity I’ve managed to cling to. I have eagerly awaited Ed’s podcast and he has not disappointed. With Mass for Shut-ins to look forward to every week, I may...Read full review »

Excellent first pod. I’m hoping Ivars, The Clurb, and Clara come for a visit. And The ______ Of The Damned.

After spending several years in prison with Ed in Romania I personally had little hope in his chances at rehabilitation, especially after what he did with that truckload of frozen lamb meat (allegedly).
