I was really enjoying this podcast until the narrator started slamming another popular podcast. What he was saying may have been the truth but how he reported his information really made him look bad. There was no reason to specifically name the other podcast. He could’ve gotten his point across...Read full review »

Seems like a really important and interesting story, but the narrator’s style makes it difficult to listen to or connect with - he speaks fast, with no emotion, really does sound like AI.

I love all your podcasts that you have done. It’s very entertaining and it’s hard to put down

Compelling story hindered by poor writing, narration, and production. Early on, the host discusses how he was a failed journalist, and it makes complete sense. He’s terrible at this. So many pointless asides, extremely annoying audio mixing and weird production choices, and a persistent tone of...Read full review »

Love a Crime Junkie take down. The writing is pretty embellished. But I appreciate the deep level of detail on a case I’ve never heard of. Great work.

A well-known unsolved mystery ruined by I Heart Radio’s use of a super crappy AI voice to narrate it. It’s rough. Also, why are there 4-5 minute ad breaks? Why all the nonsense pop culture framing references? The podcast gradually becomes unlistenable.

This case is very fascinating!! But this podcast is really hard to follow, lots of “I’ll explain that in a later episode..”..noooo I want to know now 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️ I think I’m giving up listening to the rest of it..it’s painful

This was a good catch up. I’d forgotten all about it and I’m surprised he’s still on the loose.

Great pod! Jon and team do a great job of giving correct information and let the story play itself out.
ZoBro876 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/21/24
The show is actually pretty good but I cannot get passed the narration or AI voice over, unsure what’s happening with it. It sounds so fake and computer generated. Seems like many other have the same reaction! Sorry content and research are five stars but delivery and production are 1 star.

The story is an interesting one, but the narrator drags it out adding far too many details that are not important to the story. One example of this was his reference to the movie The Descent, where he added the unnecessary context about how he saw the movie the year before he went to college in...Read full review »

Interesting story with great podcast potential but unfortunately the host makes it all about himself and over-dramatises. Also waaaaay too many adverts.

By episode 5 I had to move on. So many ads and the host has a painful narration style.

Great detail and research on this long cold case. The constant commercial breaks are irritating! The narration could be improved, but overall it’s a very interesting long form podcast.
DixieDoodle! via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/20/24
“A physical embodiment of their loss.” ?? How egotistical. Narrator needs to pre-read in order to understand the flow and context of a sentence. Monotonous delivery.
Spaulding67 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/19/24
The host is overly dramatic and throws out times, dates and random facts unrelated to the story in a way that makes it unpleasant to listen to for me. Chill out!!

Extremely good podcast! Shocked to see anyone complaining about this show A++ podcast

I like the narrators dedication to this story, unveiling new details & telling it in a calm, unemotional way.

Ok
Good attempt at the investigation. The voice and valance is odd and sounds unnatural. Makes it hard to listen to.

Thank you for sharing this story. As a resident of Arizona, I appreciate you shining light on this case. You have done an EXCELLENT job giving truth and facts. I’m really enjoying the story, the search, the investigation. But what prompted me to write the review was Jon calling out this other podcast that everyone seems to have forgot that they plagiarized every one else’s work and faced barely any consequences.
PlinaKu via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/18/24
I don’t mean this negatively toward him or to sound like a jerk, but the narration is sooo awful. I don’t understand why he narrates so much differently than he talks. There’s also a lot of awkward jokes thrown in like he’s tricking you and then is like, “just kidding!” And I feel like there’s a...Read full review »

This is a great podcast but it seems like he did all the research and wrote the script but decided to “phone it in” by letting AI record it for him. If it isn’t that, he has the most pedantic speech I’ve heard in a long time. I love the podcast, but hate feeling like a robot is reading to me.

Narrator is way to self referential, and overdoes it with psychoanalytic language.

Loved the other two ‘Missing’ podcasts and this one is just as good. Really enjoy the storytelling; highlight of my podcast listening week!

The first episode was interesting. The second was fine. And from there it gets convoluted and hard to follow. There’s an absurd amount of time spent talking about leads that are not credible. Like seriously a whole episode. And the Crime Junkie bashing is just a waste of time. I don’t even like...Read full review »

Jon’s “song” in episode 5 was extremely disrespectful. This doesn’t have the same high quality as the other Missing podcasts. Huge fan of Jon’s work, especially missing on 9/11 but he misses the mark on this one. Agree there are a lot of adverts, if they were more spread out it wouldn’t be as...Read full review »

Jon Walczak got me through the pandemic with Missing in Alaska. So provoking and I want answers! Missing in Arizona is compelling and runs out before I need the next episode. Monotone narration. Not well written. I am familiar with this case and Robert Fischer This does the story no justice. .

As a true crime junkie who has casually followed the Robert Fisher case for years, I’m glad Missing in Arizona is doing a deep dive. From first seeing it featured on the OG Unsolved Mysteries to now, I’ve gotten more insight on the case. Also, it was a nice surprise to hear the host, Jon W, get...Read full review »

Meh
The podcast is OK. Narrator seems robotic and like AI generated even though it’s not. Lacks emotion in a very emotional topic. Kinda weird to bash other podcasts too. Seems childish.
Rowankate via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/13/24
The story its self is very interesting and the research and details are very very good. If you like to be preached at about political leanings you’ll really like it. Most of it irrelevant to the story, especially the COVID, Trump, rednecks, and Ross Perot stuff. This happened in 2001 and wasn’t...Read full review »
