Painful to listen to
This is an interesting case, with mysterious characters and very little evidence, but this is not a good podcast. The hosts are not investigators, true crime buffs, journalists, or even friends of Maura or her family, they want to make and promote a movie. After hearing episode 16, it's clear to me that what they really want is to insert themselves into the case by exaggerating threats. As a listener - admittedly not knowing what actually went on behind the scenes - the podcast appeared to haphazardly present the case as if they only thing Tim and Lance knew about it came directly out of James Renner's blog. They constantly talk in circles, explaining themselves, then reexplaining themselves and making ridiculous pseudo-observations (like a guy who hunts is probably not the laid back type - what?!?, Oct 22 episode). They also spend maddeningly long periods of time addressing people who are insulting them on social media. The only thing that has kept me listening this long are the guest speakers, particularly Clint Hartling, who actually appear prepared for their discussions and have lists of information and evidence so that they can present things in an organized manner, a concept completely lost on the hosts. On a more positive note, I will say that they do allow all opinions on the case to be heard and explored.Read full review »

This has so much potential, BUT- there is literally no structure. These are conversations you guys should be having while planning the show- not the show itself. Lay out all the facts. Present every theory. Play clips of the other coverage of this case that you mention in passing. Read from...Read full review »

I've listened to the first couple of episodes and feel I have a general sense of what's good and bad about this podcast thus far. The good: you guys picked an interesting story to follow, you have good mics and audio, you're well-spoken, and are genuinely interested in the case. The...Read full review »
