Too much pointless speculation
The case is fascinating, and the content is all there, but they need to use the editing tool in post production. Speculating for 10 min over how weird it was that Maura's dad didn't wake up when she used his phone? Maybe she went into the bathroom & made the call with the fan on. Maybe he takes sleeping pills & was sound asleep. Maybe she went into the hallway. Wondering why someone would smoke a cigarette after a car accident? Seriously? How about to calm their nerves because THEY WERE JUST IN A CAR ACCIDENT? They go out of their way to say repeatedly every episode that they aren't speculating, just giving the facts but without openly saying it, they really lean heavily towards accusing the father of having something to do with it and make ridiculous "speculation" at how weird the family's behavior was. Also, just a bit of my own "speculation" regarding the stupid big deal made over Fred Murray not wanting James Renner's book to be published, here's a logical one: the man is going around digging up dirt on his daughter and using it to paint her as a sociopath. Would YOU want to work with someone who's painting your daughter in an unflattering light? That said, I was previously unfamiliar with this case, so when good info is presented, it keeps me coming back to listen. Listening is like going on an audio Wikipedia journey: You start on the main page, then click on a link to go off on a tangent (and maybe another one) before eventually going back to the place you left off on the main page.Read full review »

I so wanted to like this podcast but the narrators roam in and out of the details of this story as if they don't realize they're being recorded. I know a fair amount about this case but ended up feeling totally lost after the second episode. It's worth noting that these guys are...Read full review »

Started off as an interesting series, but once they ran out of easily accessible facts it quickly devolved to inconsistent speculation and a lot of pondering out loud. The most recent episodes are nothing more than a run down of who has said something mean to them on Twitter this week....Read full review »

They say they aren’t judging the father yet they completely pick apart his letter in one of the podcasts. Hopefully none of us will ever know what it’s like to lose a child. So while we are fortunate not to have this happen, zip it.
