Thought provoking
In full transparency, I very much believe in the core progressive philosophy that this country oppresses people of color and everyone deemed as "other", practices imperialism in the name of corporate greed and that the American machine cares very little for a lot of Americans. However I am never supportive of violence. This podcast provides so much more nuanced detail than history books and archival media ever show us. But the same rationalizations I heard from these aging progressive radicals are the ones I hear now from right wing militias and white supremacist organizations. I wonder if the violent right wing terrorists studied the 60's radical tactics in the same ways the Weatherman studied Che Guevara or revolutionary movements? Could their history be informing everything they hate? And if violence is not okay for the far right could it ever be right for the left? Both think they are righting wrongs. Here's hoping far right militias have as little long lasting impact as the left did. Thank you for an amazing, thoughtful podcast!!Read full review »

Here’s a direct quote from the first episode: “That’s just another example of why white people can’t be trusted.” Imagine someone making the reciprocal of that statement. This is glorifying racists and domestic terrorists. Very clearly left wing extremist propaganda.

I loved this series. I learned so much about the deeper and human underpinnings of the Weathermen and 60’s70’s radicalism. Highly recommend.
