No fear - With Nick Richards #150
Listen now
Description
Nick Richards is our special guest this evening, born in BC and now living in Halifax. Nick was a smoker and in 2019 couldn't run one continuous km, how things have changed? The stories Nick shares are crazy and gut-wrenching. Nick left the Navy after eight years and was at the bottom, picked himself up, and got to work. In late 2021 Nick decided it was time to start trail running, getting out more into nature and seeing what he could accomplish. In 2022 Nick completed Capes 100 with five minutes to spare, amazing. In 2023 Nick went to Alberta and completed Canada's only 200 mile race, The Divide in 86 hours. Very impressive, now Nick wants to see his limits and has his eyes set on more long-distance runs. People should listen to this episode, it shows how negatives can be turned into positives and reminds us to drop our fears and get out there and go for it. Don't forget about Nick's Chilly Challenge, at least 300 km running each month this Winter outdoors and for every 1000$ donated, he will plunge into the ocean for 1 minute. I see the donations are just over 2000$, 2 minutes. I think we should get that up to at least 3000$. Nick wants to raise money and awareness for members of the community who are OUT IN THE COLD this Winter and support the community association by the same name. Links are below in the notes. Let's help Nick plunge into that cold Ocean water as long as possible, we can't wait to see it happen.
