In this week's episode, our very special guest is Jean-Marc Doiron. Jean-Marc Doiron is a high-performance runner and a dedicated family man. At 35, he is not only a father of two but also a seasoned athlete who has clocked over 3,000 kilometers annually for the past two decades. His passion for running remains undiminished, with a personal best marathon time of 2:32, achieved in the fall of 2023 while raising two young children.
Jean-Marc’s journey into the world of running began at the age of 16 when he decided to focus solely on the sport after being a multi-sport athlete. This decision paved the way for his participation in the World Francophone Games in Lebanon in 2009 and his recognition as Athlete of the Year across all sports at his university in 2010. In 2011, he clocked a personal best time of 1:49 in the 800m, narrowly missing the 2012 Olympic standard of 1:46.
Beyond his achievements, Jean-Marc has also significantly contributed to the sport through coaching. He led the university’s cross-country team and was honored as Coach of the Year in 2016. That same year, he ran his first marathon, an experience that captivated him with its unique training regimen, intricate logistics of nutrition and stress management, and the camaraderie accompanying the event. Jean-Marc’s story is a testament to his dedication to running and his commitment to his family.
