Too much sympathy for the family?
I cannot believe the host described Chris’ mother as having a “warm, Yankee candle” voice- she sounded like a psycho to me. Episode 2 was disgusting/ basically, the parents describe their wunderkind son Chris, who was so smart and wonderful, he discovered a new way of fishing! I mean people have been fishing for thousands of years, but Chris figured out a new, better way to do it! hmmm- I wonder why professional, commercial fishermen aren’t using the Chris method yet?! Everything he touches is golden you know?! It’s easy to see how their unequivocal praise would lead to him being a narcissist who thought he could get away with four murders. Honestly, their glowing praise of their convicted killer son and their contempt for the victim and her family- “They read books! She didn’t cook!”- was gross and the host did not challenge them at all! Why not ask why Chris would crumple up the picture of their grandchild in the interrogation room? Where were the tough questions? Episode 2 made me not want to hear the rest. I feel gross for listening. This is voyeuristic.

More reviews of Murder in Illinois
I know there was a disclaimer that it was one-sided, but to listen to Chris’ family trash talk his the victim’s family? Disgusting. Episode 2 will be my last.
