The jury is out
Angela Duckworth may not think so but she’s pretty brave to expose herself like this. She clearly doesn’t care what people think about her - I’ve noticed this in other podcasts - and it’s just fascinating to listen to someone deeply moral but un-self-aware. She can recognize her feelings but sees only through a glass darkly that she exists in a context of other people. I loved Steven’s podcast with James Altschuler that was sort of like this, and I might like this one too. It’s so fascinating to see a rigid person over time - will she evolve or won’t she?

Really liked the show, but disagree in a approach that lies in speciesism, don’t see the point on forcing empathy on humans by contrast of how we treat dogs. treating other living beings with respect for their existence is what matters not if is a dog, human or a giraffe.

For one who is starving for the conversation of intelligent people, this podcast is excellent. Paradoxically, the episode that seems the most scripted, is my favourite; The episode on memory’s proclivity toward narrative is eminently wonderful.
