Love it- Keep Fact Checking
I have been enjoying the witty sparring between Stephen and Angela. Recent interview with Luis von Ahn of Duolingo was fascinating. As a lang educator, I was caught by surprise by your statement that L2 skills are among the least valued among employers and would love to hear a fact check on that. In fact, it would be great if you could revisit the value of L2 acquisition among monolingual Americans from the standpoint of equity and race relations in the US in a future episode. I would think that L2 skill-building among English native speakers is becoming more important than ever, especially now that our nation’s clear lack of international communicative competence has been made apparent by political tensions and massive disparities in equity have been exposed by the pandemic.

These two people are a joy to listen to any day. But to listen to them talk back and forth and bicker is like having close friends over who stay way too late... but you still love the back and forth. Love this podcast so much.

A whole discussion on how to greet people without physical contact? Cmon y’all... did you actually forget that waves exist?! This whole episode came across as a COVID hype money-grab. I’ll listen a while longer on the hopes the material becomes substantive like I’m used to getting from these two.
