“Subscribed on a recommendation from a friend and on the basis of Ken Jennings. Two things showed me they had neither the cultural body of knowledge that makes cultural references humorous nor the interest to research their topics.
When asked in a Q&A about pop crossover uses of Tuvan throat singing after an episode on the subject, the were ignorant of Paul Pena, the most famous Western throat singer thanks to the Oscar-nominated documentary Genghis Blues and writer of the Steve Miller Band hit Jet Airliner (this in front of a live audience in SF no less).
Also the host with the musical background referred to the use of Roman numerals as 'Rush-like', despite Rush's only numericaly titled album (2112) using Arabic numerals.
If the hosts aren't going to bother, I don't have hours to waste listening to them.”Read full review »
