Weird that this podcast feels like the looking glass these days - hyper rational, liberal and fact driven. To paraphrase Morrissey - a dryness that is criminally vulgar. Adam Tooze is worth an hour of anyone’s week.

Several months ago I discovered Adam Tooze’s Chartbook on Substack and I immediately subscribed and dug in. The depth of information in it is far beyond what you can often find scanning through publications on your own, which is why I find it so valuable. So, the podcast is like dessert for me....Read full review »

And fake experts, Adam Tooze stands out as one of increasingly rare real experts. One of the best free programs you could listen to.
SmeddyMutt via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/08/24
It’s worth listening to Tooze, especially when he gets excited about something. But I’m not convinced Abadi has much to contribute. And those sneaky in-line ads don’t help credibility

The Kant episode was a tour de force of compression & celerity, yet unfailing clarity as well. Thank you for rousing this slumbering dog, gentlemen.

Enjoy the economic and historic topics, not much his politics. It’s so obvious that he has pet peeves. But it gets worse when his biases lead him to pick and choose which facts to present to his readers and listeners. One example is his view on Columbia student protest. In this podcast, he...Read full review »

I am a devotee of this pod - AND. I understand and appreciate Adam’s skepticism of US global power projection, but this often drives him to unquestioningly accept revisionist counterpositions that service a worldview that he would ultimately reject. Like those of the Houthis (who have been...Read full review »

While typically a very helpful and informative podcast, Adam Tooze didn’t bring his usual rigor to the recent episode on the Red Sea. Instead, he was more interested in turning the Houthis into a sympathetic character of anti imperial resistance in service of his broader point on American or...Read full review »

Cast was supposed to be about economics. Tooze should have questioned and stopped the rant against Israel.

I really enjoy Adam Tooze!!! Cameron is ok too!!

But the advertisements and endorsements spoken by the hosts are confusing. When picking up where I left off can be hard to distinguish what is paid speech vs original speech and then it makes me question everything the host says.

Probably my favorite liberal econ or politics pod. Adam is brilliant and eloquent on a huge variety of topics, and intellectual renaissance man. Credit to FP for sponsoring such a proudly Keynesian project, though I do find the Amazon Ring ads problematic (that is a malevolent product).

Your podcasts are always enlightening, but the one on August 25, 2023 was outstanding, especially the analysis of the economic situation in Japan and Britain. You go a long ways towards making economics understandable and useful to those of us that never took an economics class. Thank you.

Tooze is great as ever but the format could be improved. At its best the podcast allows Tooze do perform his now customary wizardry in illuminating and connecting wold historical trends and processes. At times however it can verge on the awkward as the host, very much an every day man foil...Read full review »

I listen to lots of finance / ecomics podcasts and this has become an absolute must listen show: always interesting, always topical, always delivered in an unbiased easy to grasp way. It just works! Enjoy!

I’ve never reviewed a podcast — except maybe one of my own ;) — but this is a comet through smog. Thanks to Adam and Cameron for this scintillation.

I read and thoroughly enjoyed Tooze’s “Wages of Destruction.” I was pleased to see he had a weekly podcast and it is one a highlight every week.

If you feel intellectually superior parroting this narrative, this is a podcast for you. If, however, you prefer independent thought, pass on it. Keynesian economics all the way through.

This is an intriguing podcast. In some ways it is utterly conventional and deeply America-centric in its framing of issues. Yet at the same time it can be deeply historicist, nuanced in the best inter-disciplinary intellectual tradition and at times deeply, marvellously comparative! This...Read full review »

Adam Tooze provides valuable insight as ever. The podcast is let down by having a co-host/foil to Tooze who is of middling intelligence. Replace Cam with someone insightful or who speaks less.

There are many great things about this show, but what I enjoy the most is that it brings nuance to frequently over simplified topics. Their podcasts on sanctions have especially given me a lot of food for thought.

I thoroughly enjoyed Adam’s diatribe about the incoherence of the Brexit project and the fundamental non-seriousness of those who advanced it. It’s not easy to find a podcast that is clear & concise about complex economic news. Adam seems to have an answer for everything; I’m glad Cameron is there to bring it all forward. Keep up the good work guys!

Adam as an expert on everything works only some of the time - it would make more interesting to make it twos and threes every now and then. Tooze is rather excellent. At the same time, the other nice gentleman sounds a bit too much like the world revolves around the US...which is a bit surprising for a Foreign Policy podcast. Still, thumbs up for the show.

Everything Adam writes or tells is prescient and intelligent. This podcast is a way for us, young economist, to follow his thoughts closely and look at the world in a more nuanced way. The questions from Cameron are on the point and the podcast’s is fun to listen to.
