You won’t go wrong here. Sebastian blends myth and Legitimate History into complex story telling and yet maintains academic honesty and fullness of character. Check it out!

Sebastian is smart, funny, and always transparent. I love that he opens up about his own potential biases and always corrects himself if he inadvertently propagates a historical myth (something that is shockingly easy to do). Great for any fan of history who is both open-minded and a critical...Read full review »

The narrator has the incredible ability to take interesting information and turn it into the most incredibly dull sequence of run-on sentences. I have tried numerous times to listen but it’s no use; his delivery is, for a lack of better word, awful.

If you love history, and want to get a good understanding of the intersection of myth and history, this is for you. It will also help you be even more of the pedantic β€œWell, actually…” person at the party. You know who you are.

This podcast is great and I’ve been a long time listener. Very interesting and in-depth info. The only thing I could say would be an improvement is that sometimes the start is very slow. Thanks for creating this content!

Maybe it’s my fault. About a month ago I started this podcast on episode one. I came from β€œFall of Civilizations” and β€œKings and Generals” looking for something to fill that void. At first, I was enthralled. The shows were, at the time, annoyingly short barely scraping an hour but since I was...Read full review »

Truly interesting. The narration is such that I’ve willingly sat through episodes about subjects I’d never think I’d be interesting in. And the concept of myths being created even when facts are there is a great conceit through the episodes. I highly recommend his episodes about The Titanic to...Read full review »

It’s history, with a twist. Sebastian has combined history and detective work all of which results in a very interesting and entertaining podcast. I can’t recommend this podcast enough. I enjoy a longer podcast, and I appreciate that this one goes into DEPTH in any given topic, including necessary historical context. It must be a ton of research. Even stories I thought I knew, I learn so much more. I could see some of the backstory redundant for huge history people, but I...Read full review »

I’ve never really got into podcasts, audio books have been my thing for the longest. Always enjoyed learning and history.. put those 2 together with some wit, down to earth humor, as well as a phenomenal presenter.. well.. just β€œWoW”. Recommend is an understatement.. I’m hooked.

I wrote a review before when I was trying out new podcasts and came across this one. All the music seemed a little over done and was pretty annoying. I was listening to this podcast when it was in the single 10s of episodes. But lately there is a constant social agenda and a constant β€œwhite apologetic β€œ tone to it. History is about history not about pushing social β€œjustice” or agenda. Hope you reflect on this Sebastian.

The podcast is at its best when dealing with pseudo history like the Templars and 1421 (both excellent), but it is wobbly on historical controversies like the Renaissance: oh dear it’s not clear when the Renaissance started and ended….historians can’t/don’t want to agree on when the (insert:...Read full review »
