I’ve listened to every history podcast out there over the past decade. Our Fake History has always been my favourite. Sebastian Major does a great job at separating fact from fiction while telling an engaging story. The show is nuanced, well sourced, and entertaining. It’s not only taught me so...Read full review »

Was looking for a new long form history podcast for some time. I’m very picky with what I listen to but this is right up my alley! Also the host kind of sounds like Jeff probst

Perhaps an unpopular opinion but I just reeeeeally dislike the theme song, invariably have to skip it. The interlude guitar music is great though. The content of the podcast is really excellent stuff and I’m thankful that it exists.

I listen in my car all the time. My sister asked me why I didn’t listen to a regular radio station and I said why would I listen to that when I have this! I started at the first episode and am now waiting for the newest 2024 episode!

Dude, Sebastian- this is wild that you mention AC for this series. When you did the series on the Olympics I went back and played AC Odyssey, which is set in Ancient Greece. While I agree the history that gets weaved into that story is not super accurate, I wanted to share two things that go...Read full review »

OFH is unique in the way it covers history and the myths of history that you didn’t think you needed to know, but that’s one of the reasons that makes it great! Sebastian’s narration and voice speak to you the way a podcaster/broadcaster should, clearly and with respect to his listeners that a...Read full review »

What a great podcast! Sebastian thoroughly researches interesting subjects and creates narrative structures that hold your interest even through long episodes. I appreciate how careful he is about explaining which historical information is trustworthy or not, and why.

The Olympics trilogy has been a real eye opener. The contrast between the current and ancient games is amazing and at times hilarious.

So happy I found this podcast. Most of my day is spent either in the car or with headphones on, so I devour podcast episodes like I’m Cookie Monster at the Nabisco factory. I love history podcasts and this show is (in my humble opinion) among the top 3 history podcasts out there. Masterfully...Read full review »

I’m 25 minutes into an episode, the topic from the title hasn’t been brought up once yet. He doesn’t say close to his mic and the sound goes in and out, I’ve checked my phone for an email like 10 times but it’s just an amateur podcaster not caring about listener experience. He repeats his...Read full review »

This podcast is the best ever! It’s the only one I listen to. Sebastian has a great point of view and makes the entire thing so fun! He makes history fun to listen (not that history is not an interesting thing). It doesn’t make sense how people make one star reviews. CRAZY!!!! Please, please,...Read full review »

Kingdom of heaven. I can overlook anything if a movie is entertaining. However, this is very boring. I got through the incomprehensible, over the top violence filmed like like the camera was being beaten by a loan shark. And the highschool play acting didn’t do it. But when they got to the...Read full review »

The writing and story-telling is excellent. I like Sebastian’s style of giving good context, taking his time to weave the background, (without meandering), before actually diving into the story at hand. This is so important and missing from some podcasts that take a more short-hand approach. The...Read full review »

If I roll my eyes any harder they’ll stick. He used to be good, though the quality has been dropping off lately. I absolutely cannot take anyone who uses “Latinx” seriously though. It’s like learning he’s a flat earther.

Feels like the episodes are weighed down by sooooo much unnecessary discussion of tangentially related background info.

This is a great podcast! I listen in the mornings with my son, as we’re focusing on the medieval time period for homeschooling this year.
