“It was interesting to watch Dominique try to negotiate around some of the clearly ageist , fat-hating, superficial values of her guest, Caroline la Bouchard. Instead of feeling empowered by this episode, which as a 71-year-old woman I was hoping to, I felt deflated and somewhat defensive. Suffice it to say I will not be following Caroline la Bouchard. Surely there are older women who would serve as more of an example of self -love and positive values . It would have been nice to get some more meaningful, less judgmental tips on health, style, etc. from someone who is not so busy defending the fact that she's not "old", a word which she clearly views as a pejorative ; this woman obviously completely buys into the patriarchal standards which sadly devalue women as they grow older .
