Both heartbreaking and gripping.
A riveting podcast about a story that is tragic on so many different levels. I applaud the writers and hosts of this show for never forgetting the victims and their families. There are certainly a lot of horrific details throughout but it never feels as if the hosts are sensationalizing the story. Their research (alongside family members and law enforcement’s investigations) and determination to find out the truth is a big part in why the families finally have some answers to the questions that have haunted them for decades. I found myself fighting back tears a number of times throughout because it was obvious how connected the hosts had become to the families and to the people they had lost in such unthinkable ways. Chris, Peta, and even Vince and Russel’s mother are never treated like numbers or mere headline fodder...through interviews with families and friends the listeners are really given a sense of who these people were and what a huge loss their deaths were and still are, and that makes the ending even more emotionally charged. I have a theory about what may have happened with the FBI search in episode 10, but I don’t want to spoil any details for anyone who hasn’t listened to it yet. Anyone know if there’s a chat site for people who’ve heard the whole series? I would love to know if anyone else had the same thoughts I did.

I’ve loved listening to this podcast, the descriptions really bring to life where Chris and Peta were and what they experienced. Thought Dan’s presenting style was gentle and understanding as well as probing. Can’t wait for the final episode!

An incredible true story told with empathy, care and honesty, pieced together by sheer tenacity and diligence and showcasing all that is to be admired and feared in human nature. Thanku BBC, a little treasure from a national treasure.
