Alexis’s treatment after admission to hospital was utterly terrible, but it is extraordinary that it took so long to diagnose her. Before the end of episode 1, despite having no medical training whatsoever, I was convinced she was autistic.

What Alexis went through is mind blowing. Exposing this has to be done and she is incredibly brave for doing so. Great research and compelling listen. Happy living Alexis x

Thank you for bringing this awful and incredible experience to this podcast for people to hear. I wholeheartedly admire what Alexis has achieved in such a harrowing and long-lasting traumatic situation. Her openness and honesty that she has shared and the tragedy that it is not an isolated...Read full review »

The scariest thing about this story is how the full weight of the State was thrown into trying to keep her captive

Well told and shocking. It’s rare to feel a podcast could have got more episodes out of a story, but I feel a few more episodes would have got even more detail out.

Thank you for bringing this story into the open. Having experienced the NHS mental health hospital St Ann’s in the 1990s for a very short time (which was an awful experience) I am left feeling there but for the grace of god go I. What a shocking and distressing story, to be denied your liberty...Read full review »

Shocked, disgusted, moved, heart-broken, amazed and speechless. Too many adjectives are needed to describe both the dreadful experience that Alexis had to endure, and her unbelievable courage and bravery to escape from the very people who are supposed to be helping her! Shame on anyone who abuses...Read full review »

This harrowing tale is testament to the bravery and hard won self belief of an amazingly strong woman and those who were willing to put themselves on the line for her. I have two autistic grandchildren, both highly intelligent and really wonderful and I am so sad that Alexis didn’t get a...Read full review »

Terrifying, horrific. A must listen. She and all other victims deserve a platform

It’s so sad and worrying that Alexis had to go through this ordeal. Mental health services are seriously underestimated and underfunded. While it was great to hear that Alexis made it out of the system, this documentary left me thinking about the countless others who are still trapped and...Read full review »

It’s horrifying to think that this can happen to people. Thank you for bravely sharing this, it’s definitely made think. What an amazing pair of friends to have.

There isn't a single reason why an autistic individual who agreed to voluntary psychiatric hospitalization (sectioned) and then treated as if involuntary. This story is about an athlete, a mother an intelligent individual who’s story must be heard. Shame on the bullies and rapists at our...Read full review »

This is a hard listen but it’s such an important one. It’s hard to comprehend how such behaviour can be allowed to happen in psychiatric institutions. I wish Alexis all the best in her ongoing recovery.

The story and brave woman telling it is not what I’m reviewing. It’s definitely a story that deserved a platform and investigation. However I don’t think the singular story itself justified a multiple episode podcast. It could have been part of an investigation into the NHS mental health service....Read full review »

Part of my job role in a residential support home for autistic adults is teaching PBM which is supported and worked alongside the RRN network. I believe that every single person in our country needs to know how people are be treated in some facilities. I also believe that this highlights a small...Read full review »

Came across this late at night and couldn’t stop listening. It must be awful to have your rights removed. To be abused. So sad in parts. A good listen.

What is going on in our own county ??!! This is abuse on another scale . Happened to be listening to this and turned on Sky news and the story has broken today . I have the greatest admiration for Alexis and so sorry she was treated like this at a vulnerable time of her life . Not to mention her...Read full review »
