In 1980, President Jimmy Carter signed the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA) doubling the holdings of the NPS. Interviews with Carter as well as proponents and opponents of the legislation are interspersed with dramatic footage from the parks created by this act.

Yosemite National Park: Horsetail Fall is a small, ephemeral waterfall that flows over the eastern edge of El Capitan in Yosemite Valley. For two weeks in February, the setting sun striking the waterfall creates a deep orange glow that resembles Yosemite's historic, "Firefall."
