Disappointingly poor episode!
How did Sheridan become a Defence Editor? Inarticulate! The Telegraph has a long tradition of employing knowledgeable commentators who actually have/had first hand experience of military matters. She clearly doesn’t as her simplistic and laughable explanations of the issues and comments about ‘patch’ life make clear. Kudos to the paper and Alison Pearson for raising the issue, getting a delay and perhaps changing the policy - we’ll see - I wouldn’t count on it - the civil servants at the MOD hate anything that smacks of hierarchy and meritocracy.

This is a must-listen podcast from UK journalists. To an American it is especially refreshing as the voices are candid, not restrained by faux political correctness, willing to tackle tough topics and have open conversations. The British Empire clearly remains great.

The clue is in the title - really interesting and a great interview with Alan Johnston - no hectoring so got real answers - thanks both

Thoroughly enjoyable and a breath of fresh air. Excellent interview with Alan Johnson in the first episode and a fascinating interview this week with Sir Richard Dearlove. Highly recommended
