Nick is simply the best interviewer. A great show with an array of interesting subjects. One of my favourite dog walking podcasts

Extraordinarily thought-provoking by Roger Hallam. I think the "house is on fire; act don't analyse" argument is hard to disagree with, but it did feel repeatedly that Nick Robinson just couldn't get away from "your protests make us late for work" mindset, and his remark...Read full review »

Mr Robinson is brilliant but cant help noticing that he’s interviewing B & C-listers for quite a while now. Perhaps he’s run out of all the worthwhile and interesting politicians.

The Roger Hallam interview was exceptional. I thought that Roger gave an honest account of his feelings and aims and you were able to maintain a high level discussion for the listener. I work in the Oil and Gas Industry and I was hoping for a balanced interview. I almost sensed that you enjoyed...Read full review »

This was such an eye-opening episode. I’m not a member of extinction rebellion and have only followed their work in the mainstream news. I am however a supporter of net zero. As the episode progressed, I found it slightly disturbing in its extremism. Nick’s arguments had merit. Rational argument...Read full review »

I am astounded that Nick kept his cool when “interviewing” Roger Hallam. How this man has managed to persuade people to join his civil resistance is beyond me. Claiming climate change is considerably worse than the holocaust and Cambodia and the genocide in the Congo is sickening. An...Read full review »

The Theresa May interview was fascinating and I think a real indictment of the British media as I wish we could have seen this side of her before and during her being PM.

Great interview probing Iain Anderson on the toxic and dishonest narratives being peddled by Stonewall - love it, particularly liked Nick's use of the phrases intellectually bogus and false parrallel. A must listen m.Read full review »

Great interview with Tony Danker! Nick really has an excellent way of gaining rounded insights into his subjects!

Probably the best political program EVER!! Just listened to the latest interview with Sharon Graham. We need her running the Labour Party. Would be the best tribute!!
Nick kam via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/24/23
Just discovered the podcast. I enjoy the frank interviews, really liked the one with Sharon Graham. The documentary style episode on Liz Truss was brilliant. More of those please, as there’s plenty of other podcasts with interviews ‘only’.

Fan of the show. But really really liked the documentary style of the Liz Truss big gamble episode. Please do more documentary style shows. Really well done

Thanks Nick and production team. It’s been such a relief to hear the interesting female politicians on your podcast. A production team that know how to balance things up. Have listened to other political podcasts and getting disappointed at the waiting and waiting so thanks!

Good interviewing throughout

Why would anyone who supported Brexit dream of coming on this podcast? One perfunctory question about his upbringing and background followed by a good old-fashioned gotcha BBC interview. this This is a really good format for a podcast except when Robinson allows his bias to overcome that format.

The David Frost interview is emblematic of the quality of this podcast / R4 programme. Nick Robinson probes gently but I feel we consistently learn the back story, the motives and the values of the interviewee. We come to understand the contradictions as well in the arguments of the interviewee...Read full review »

What is this gabbling nonsense. It’s recorded at double normal speed. Sound engineers, stop doing it. Nick, tell them to stop! They have ruined this podcast. I won’t be listening again.

12 years of Tory government and subtext of this interview is Truss (longest serving minister) and Malthouse have no responsibility for any of this. Nonsense

…there were interesting enough, high calibre politicians in the UK to be worthy of this kind of attention, then I’d give a fifth star. The only interesting guest for me in the last year was Christopher Steele. Liz Truss was a joke when interviewed and she is now the PM - how far Britain has...Read full review »

Thoroughly enjoyed this interview. It was a skilful combination of a chat between two friends and a thought-provoking exploration of some serious issues. Fascinating.

What a lovely generous and discursive interview. David Lammy is a big hitter who I knew nothing about till listening to this episode of Political Thinking. That is what you get from PTWNR, insights into big political players. Lammy went to Harvard Law school with Obama, and is a shoe-in for...Read full review »

Super set of interviews. Great conversations that remain insightful and interesting, rather than political.

Thank you Nick. This episode is a breath of fresh air. Someone have courage to speak up against radical left and right.

This is certainly the best set of political interviews that I have come across in many years. Genuinely insightful about the subject and wide ranging.

I have long been an admirer of Nick Robinson. He has produced a brilliant podcast. I know just how hard this is having produced The Community Safety Podcast. I will continue to listen to more exciting and informative episodes.

Love this podcast but would like to know what’s the pattern or frequency as sometimes it’s weekly and then nothing fir a while...could you at least give a date so can pop in diary.

By a distance the best political podcast available. Neutral and unbiased but informative and challenging of everyone. Why can’t other journalists interrogate impartially without betraying their own bias as Nick Robinson manages to do?

Thank god for some common sense.

I used to enjoy this, but the pleasure has worn off. It’s become a little like the Monty Python Yorkshiremen skit, with every politician boasting about the hardships they’ve experienced, or pretend they’ve experienced, that somehow make them better able to understand the concerns of Real People....Read full review »

Nick Robinson seems to give male guests a slightly easier time than female - especially if they lean to the right.

Incisive but gentle questions-with enough time to let the interviewee speak. Always refreshing, often illuminating, sometimes surprising. Particularly enjoyed the Horton and Hunt ones...

Usually really enjoy the podcast, think that Nick typically gets a lot from the interviewee, although his line of questioning Rishi Sunak about race was a bit dodgy and awkward. I think it was completely well intentioned but just not done so well. The audio on the Mark Drakeford one, however, is...Read full review »

By the end of every podcast I understand better the person being interviewed and what they believe in - even if it’s the opposite to mine. The best political pod out there. No one else offers the same level of insight and quality of analysis.

The warmly textured voice of Nick Robinson is always a welcome listen. Humorous and friendly chat that gives the backstory of politicians in their own words. Informative and engaging.

Nick has what it takes to ask thoughtful, insightful questions that bring out the essence of his guests.

You can definitely tell that Nick voted remain and uses any chance to put forward the anti-Brexit rhetoric, better less biased podcasts are available as are more biased ones

I love these podcasts. Nick Robinson, always courteous, manages to challenge his guests without ever being rude. Unlike Paxman and Maitlis. Robinson’s mastery of his subject is exemplary. Thank you Nick !!

Lovely Ken Clarke - perhaps he will save us yet. N Robinson less lovely. Always bumptious.

Exceptional reflective analysis. Robinson is truly the master within his profession. Outstanding. Also good to hear the sensible tones of Ken Clark. Much needed in these duplicitous times.
