Ep. 82 | Tried & True Design Tips for Great Branding
Description
This week's brand-new episode is all about some tried & true design tips that produce great branding!
1. Have a Clear Brand Story
Your brand story is the foundation of your visuals. When your story is clear, it naturally informs the colors, fonts, and imagery that will resonate with your audience.
Example:
I just started a big project for a client that is hosting a retreat in November. She shared with me that the retreat is going to be a full body sensory experience with a focus on mindfulness, breath, oneness and connection. The clarity of her vision inspired a website design with visuals that draw you in, colors that feel expanded and open and copy that makes you feel like you are meant to be there.
2. Consistency is Key
This doesn't mean everything should look identical, but your brand should feel cohesive and connected.
Example:
A client needs a website and gives me a logo as the jumping off point for the design. I will use the colors, fonts, elements and overall vibe of that logo to produce the website and other brand elements that are needed. A design trick that I like to do is make a copy of the logo in black or white and then infuse the original logo colors into the website or other brand elements.
3. Embrace Simplicity
Simplicity often leads to stronger, more memorable designs. Avoid clutter and focus on clean, purposeful visuals. Every element should have a reason for being there and support your overall brand message.
Example:
Reuse and repurpose images, copy and other visuals in various places. Not everyone will see every part of a website, funnel, social media profile, etc. It's ok to determine what your core visuals will be and use them throughout your messaging.
4. Infuse Your Personality
Templates are void of your personality. That is why they don't feel as impactful as you think they will be. Your brand should be a reflection of who you are.
Example:
If you love certain colors, aesthetics, elements, etc. use them! People buy from people they feel connected to so don't be afraid to showcase the unique parts of you and your business.
