Love it Audiobook page turner without crash boom bang, psychopaths or horror.

A story that spends hours talking about “trade goods” and other seemingly mundane slice of like type details but eventually turns into something way deeper than you would ever expect. Spend the time on this its worth it. By the final book I’m very sad it’s over.

I’ve listened to the books Mr Lowell narrated countless times. They’re wonderful. I don’t care for the new narrator at all so I stick to the originals…every night it’s my go-to sleep aid. It’s as much about Mr Lowell’s voice as it is the story . However today they all moved from Separate books...Read full review »

I loved this. A great writer… I’m hoping I can find the next season, half share, somewhere!

This homey sf tale charmed me with its nautical throwbacks and pleasantly populated starscape. It’s nice to have a story about cooperative economics, orderly self improvement and general workplace camaraderie. A nice antedote to the scary psychological thrillers and dystopian fiction that...Read full review »

Like others have said there’s no aliens no explosions no violence but I can’t stop listening. Halfway through full share now. If you listen to a lot of podcasts like I do (while working) this series will fill out several days.

I’m revisiting the SC series after quite a few years. There’s 3 new books coming out soon so I wanted to get a refresher on Ish and the crew. The characters are so charming and no one narrates the series better than Mr. Lowell himself. The audiobook version has a great narrator (Mr. Kaffer I...Read full review »

I’m currently listening to the sixth book and rated the first five full stars. No great epic really, just a good story with great narration. He pulls you in and you connect with the characters. It was a pleasure to listen to and I admit I’m a bit sad that I’ll have to be letting go of them soon....Read full review »

I read the series years ago, I remembered how much I enjoyed them and intended to reread them. So I was really happy to come across this podcast and love listening to them on my walks with my dog. The books cover the journey of an ordinary boy in his progress to manhood, it makes a change to hear...Read full review »

Listened through in about a day so there was enough there to hold my attention as I completed other tasks. There is only a vague connection to being set in the future or in space and is more character based. Kept hoping for some action or conflict but it plods along in a pretty even manner.

The author is a fine narrator. My specific issues with the plot would equal spoilers but they're not big problems. Biggest problem? Finding all the books so I can keep going.Read full review »

No battles, no aliens, not even any mortal peril… and it’s good? Oh yes indeed. Just get two chapters in and you’ll see what a fascinating world it is in which to immerse yourself. You won’t regret it.

This is a review of the series up until Captain's Share. Thus giving you a better idea on why you should perhaps invest your time in it. First in the series. Excellent production quality. I really enjoyed listening to this very much, but a notice to others: there is no excitement in here.
