The saga begins...
Quarter share is an engaging story in and of itself, but also marks the beginning of Nathan Lowell's Trader Tales. Ishmael Wang has been tragically orphaned and is left with no prospects, no job, and a rapidly dwindling inheritance as the company who owns the planet Neris is nickel and dimeing him for every little expense. And they also want him to leave Their planet. Without the money to book passage off planet, Ishmael has one choice: take a job as a Quarter Share, an unskilled laborer, the lowest of the low, on a Solar Clipper. If he can get a birth. This is the beginning of a remarkable tale of a young man stepping out into a wider world, growing up, and how he changed the lives of the people around him by introducing a new perspective. The characters are real people and the story reads true. No super men here! At the same time, the story demonstrates the exceptional results even ordinary people can achieve by trusting in themselves and not giving up. The story is well written, and Nathan Lowell reads it in a personable and engaging way. The individual episodes are relatively short, but you will soon be tempted to listen to them one after another in order to find out what happens next. I was thoroughly entertained. The whole series is a winner!Read full review »
