“Nick Spencer chose a wide selection of books, each diving into a different subject yet each intellectually enriching. Going from war, to language, economics, morality and more …and not to forget - cats! While these interviews are run as part of Theos they are in no way religious, the guests range from devout Christians to complete atheists or to people where we do not know their religion at all - Nick sometime touches on their (or lack of their) religion but always in an unobtrusive way that simply complements the interview and gives more context to their work / book being discussed. I really enjoy the podcasts - I have listen to over half of the talks (I wanted to write interviews, but it is more a talk than an interview). Nick always puts the author at ease, makes it clear he read the book with great interest and asks questions that are wide enough to show us the essence of the book and (some time) of the author him or herself. I will listen to all of them - To recommend one or two to start with - go with 'Where does language come from' or 'What is the future of humanity' or one from the first series 'What's wrong with meritocracy?'. Unfortunately these podcasts have small audiences, our society would be in a better place were more people listening.”Read full review »
