“Real Crime Profile has its issues and inconsistencies - for example, either the audio balance needs adjustment, or Jim needs to get up on his mic - but nothing that won't be sorted once the team has gotten a few more episodes in. It's fantatsically honest, qualified, and interesting. I'm looking forward to where the team takes it once beyond "Making a Murderer."
Several reviews have faulted Lisa's presence, but I feel this is outright missing the best part of this show, which is that it speaks to the unqualified from a qualified perspective. Lisa may need to adjust her delivery somewhat to omit "encouragement language" that's typical of an active listener in everyday speaking - that's a fair criticism. But without her entirely, this show loses its connection to its audience. The qualified experts will have no guidance for insights into what isn't obvious to us, what's confusing or otherwise obscure to people without daily involvement in the criminal justice system. Lisa's not only a necessary role - she's good at it. She speaks for our intrigue and enthusiasm, and has ample experience with communication and entertainment - which is what a podcast is.
Keep up the great work, team. Really appreciate this endeavor.”Read full review »
