I am surprised this serie is the tortoise selection. I am used to real investigation and proven facts. They are just travelling through europe and carribean. In real money I found nothing but the thoughts of a journalist who found nothing and who could interview no one of interest or real lu...Read full review »

I was really intrigued by this topic and the podcast started out strong. But it’s dragged out so long with so little substance, it starts to feel a little like the host just likes to listen to herself.

Well investigated, researched and presented, this is a fascinating listen.

These investigations lead to nothing. Don’t waste your time

I got bored after the 3rd episode

Show sells itself as some sort of investigative reporting exercise but uncovers precisely zero new information about anything. Feel like it was a massive waste of time.

Wonderful dive into the intriguing and murky depths of crypto, is it there? is it not there?who is and what’s what? or is any of it really real? Brilliant again from Tortoise!

I have loved all the other tortoise investigative podcasts, and this seemed like such an interesting topic, but the edit on this one was terrible! We don’t need you to spend multiple episodes telling us about your unreturned emails. Also didn’t love the attempts to be witty/pithy. Seemed like...Read full review »

Aleks Krotoski hosts a six-part podcast as she investigates Tether, the cryptocurrency that underpins the entire crypto market. Sounds exciting … until you come to end of the sixth episode. After a year-long investigation and trips around the world to talk to a bunch of characters, Aleks states:...Read full review »

Another podcast from Tortoise that just nails it. Professionally told, yet gripping. This one is a little gonzo, in a good way. Follow the money.

A very interesting story but it needs direction. The reader needs to be redirected to the plotline. This whole thing could have been done in a single episode and this is a topic needing a deep dive. Entire episodes are published where they make zero discoveries or progress. Feels like they’re on...Read full review »

This is so well researched, produced and narrated. It’s about Tether, an extremely shady and controversial stablecoin at the heart of the crypto economy. Has clips of their only executive who gives interviews - Paolo Ardoino, and with other players in the space. If it is a fraud, then it’s the...Read full review »

Thrilling, witty, exciting… as someone who knows little about crypto and how it works I found this series from Aleks and Tortoise a brilliant listen. The characters are beyond bizarre, and the question at the heart of it – about whether any of this is real – has me gripped.

Definitely worth a listen - fun, pacey and interesting

This podcast has the usual in-depth research you’d expect from Tortoise (my favourite podcast network) but is severely let down by the presentation. For example, spanning the end of episode 1 and the beginning of episode 2, there is 15 uninterrupted minutes of the ambient room sounds, while the...Read full review »
