Reasons to leave the country/abolish government
The only positive thing about this podcast is that it demonstrates how awful these people really are. Every episode is mostly gleefully presented ideas for how government can further dictate what people can and cannot do, often including horrifying ideas for punishments. It appears that nobody on the show has even the most basic understanding of economics, but I think it would be naive to believe that... In episode 3 it was mentioned that rent prices had been driven up by housing benefit- which is to be expected. Ed Milliband's proposed solution for the problem is rent controls! The result would be slums. No economic incentive to build or repair low income housing- of course capitalism is blamed and the government steps in to build houses, taking a monopoly on low income housing, and rendering the poor even more at the mercy of government. (Think about gov monopoly on low income healthcare- you can't see a doctor tomorrow and there's nothing you can do about it) I just have a feeling Milliband knows all that and wants people to be poor and dependant on government. If you're into authoritarian leftist dreaming this could be amusing, although I don't think it goes far enough for the tankies... personally I find it horrifying to listen to.Read full review »
