Description
Will Cumbia is back! Inspired by our conversation when reviewing the Eurovision Movie, we now expand on the ideas we mentioned and talk about the use of accents throughout “mainstream” movies and shows. Episode breakdown: First, we explain a bit of our positionality and clarify how we’ll be using the term “accents” before chatting about the three different uses of accents I’ve observed in movies and series. Then, we talk about examples (see below), the role of accents in portraying stereotypes, diversity in grammatic structures, accents changing over space and time, and much more! We close by discussing why this is an important subject to discuss, and mention two VERY SPECIAL announcements at the very end :) Join the Conversation!
