Season 2’s first episode gives a nuanced and harrowing explanation for how the “country of graves” became the “country of prisoners,” while still keeping an eye toward what can—and should—be done, citing models where crime was reduced without violating civil liberties.

I have enjoyed all the episodes I’ve listened to thus far. The latest episode on El Salvador was fascinating- I knew very little about the historical context but it explained it clearly. I was particularly interested to learn how US policies of mass deportation have contributed to El Salvador’s...Read full review »

This is an amazing podcast and it makes my nerdy brain happy every time there’s a new episode released! I was particularly moved by the El Salvador episode about the rise of their populist leader and how that has affected the human rights of the Salvadorans. Ngofeen the host makes really complex...Read full review »

I found this podcast and since then I enjoy every episode. I like that you feel enter the the story, the spaces while listening the main characters. Recommended if you are tired of superficial news, and want to understand the roots of the problems of our times.

For anyone who cares about human rights but doesn’t feel like doing homework, this show takes listeners behind the scenes to the people fighting to make things right. Some of the abuses are horrific, but the people are charming and inspiring and the host, Ngofeen Mputubwele, is loads of fun....Read full review »
