I started listening because it’s all about food, and love the River Cafe cookbooks. But really makes it for me is the interest and love that is so evident through Ruthie’s interviewing.

A lot of the time it feels like you’re listening in on two friends catching up. The questions Ruthie asks seem thoughtful and interesting- unique even, occasionally- and they lead to answers and stories where you can hear the guests beautiful and individual humanity. Gorgeous

During these dreadful times I’m finding conversations over food and life are a poultice. This wonderful podcast is one of them. O Ruthie, I feel as though I know thee. Yet, my conversations, while often revolving around food, aren’t experienced with the wide-ranging likes of your guests, although my peeps are an interesting lot. You ask all the right questions and make me feel like I can’t stop eavesdropping on a...Read full review »

just a note that the Colombe d’Or and the Moulin de Mougin seem to be mixed up, in this episode between the two of them ; Fry is enthusing about the latter and Ruthie is commenting about the former…very different foodie experiences 🤓😎

I absolutely adore this podcast. Ruthie’s knowledge and ability to converse with her guests will leave you with an uncanny feeling of almost eating with your ears. Just found this podcast. I really love hearing about family food habits/patterns/practices, especially re: guests of advanced age (e.g Mel Brooks, Martha Stewart). This podcast is a peek into the elite foodie world. I’m learning so much.

Fantastic stories of interesting guests childhood meals, cooking experiences and comfort food which always highlights to me mostly how similar, yet sometimes, how different our approach to cooking and eating can be. Ruthie is a wonderful and humble host. Fascinating!

Gosh how disappointing…… No Ruthie. How self obsessed is he not to have the host interview him. I stopped listening but look forward to all the other guests in Series 3

Ruthie gets the very best guest and she is a remarkable chef and restauranteur. But, I find her a bit pretentious . When she is interviewing one of her many” famous best friends” it’s a bit precious and obsequious. And her skills as an interviewer needs polish.
