Brilliantly Simple
There are plenty of examples of "Couple of Dudes Talking About Whatever (Particularly Pop Culture)" podcasts floating around this series of tubes -- some good, many terrible -- but none of them do it as well as Merlin Mann and John Roderick. I wish I knew how tightly this gets edited, but part of me still wants to believe that the conversations between these two are so naturally wonderful that very little is required. And it's not too long before you realize that the topics of conversation, while interesting themselves, are truly carried by the hosts' chemistry. As we get to know these guys and their relationship with one another, the standout feature of the show is a fine display of one of life's greatest simple pleasures: Good conversation between interesting people. That being said, Merlin Mann is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT about Billy Joel ("Covered in Sauce," start 38:00). And that being said, John Roderick is ALSO CORRECT about KISS (Recurring).Read full review »

I am addicted to Roderick On The Line. The friendly banter of Merlin and John is a beacon of sanity, questionable as that may seem. There should be so many more reviews of this podcast. It gets me through the tough times.
