“If you have any interest in Viking/Icelandic literature, culture, society, history this is for you. With the skilled guidance of Andy and John you will plunge deeply below the surface of the sagas into the surrounding atmosphere: law, culture, society, gender, warfare, poetry, environment, livelihood, and religion and magic (although these last two do not get the depth treatment that other subjects do). The format works very well, having the two scholars present their take, sometime conflicting, sometimes in a agreement and sometimes simply different, on the sagas. Just when you are overwhelmed with sagas, the brief provide a break filled with historical, archeological, cultural background to the time period with other experts. I highly recommend it!”
