“I hate "self-help." This has become a huge industry full of flowery language designed to make whiners feel better about being where they are. Blount approaches managing your life like a mechanic fixing a car; take this action and this will the result. While he does approach the softer "feelings," "outlooks," and "believing in yourself," it is all grounded in specific actions. I love that he makes it clear that believing, hoping, and even setting goals are worthless – unless you do something specific.
