Funny podcast, reliving the youth and revisiting one of the greatest books written. Would love this pod to continue as a regular show!

The infectious humour of the Moonman brings this book read to life, plenty of memories brought back to life that if you grew up in Melbourne in the 80s you definitely experienced it. Definitely worth the listen.

Loved the book, loving the podcast. The Marty Sheargold ep was as good as I’d anticipated.

Just cottoned onto this. Funny, cruel and surprisingly moving…I’m only 2 episodes in !

.Eps seem to be getting shorter and shorter. Please, we love you, but 16 odd minutes is not enough. Please can you extend and give us at least 30 minutes per episode?

Driving along I find myself smiling and often laughing. Brings back so many memories from the eighties. I don’t even follow the AFL and still love it:)
Old man Ian via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/02/22
Brings back memories that otherwise would never have resurfaced, and turns them from daggy recollections into hilariously funny gems. Nailed it guys 🤣🤣🤣🤣

As a footy fan who grew up in the country, listening to the story of a kid from the suburbs is as good as it gets.
Wobbler2 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 09/19/22
Everything they talk about takes me back 35 years. Not enough talk about the mighty Dees though😂

Whilst I grew up in 80s Sydney idolising rugby league icon Steve Mortimer, Matthew Hardy’s book is wonderfully relatable. And his subsequent podcast with the Moonman adds another layer of nostalgic hilarity. Great stuff.

Matt & Lawerence circle around the absolutely hilarious book - Saturday Afternoon Fever, written by Matt Hardy. If you lived in suburbs (like me) of Melbourne in the 70’s & 80’s they will bring back so many memories that it’s a non stop nostalgia trip with the razor sharp humour of the...Read full review »

You don’t have to be a fan of footy to love the funny chats these guys have. Feels like you’re standing at the pub yarning to friends

Exceptional podcast full of very relatable anecdotes and life experiences.

This is genuine “piss yourself laughing” comedy. Matt’s book was a great read back when it was released, and revisiting it with Matt reading passages and Moonman chipping in with quips and wisecracks, is even better. If you were a footy fan in the 70s this is for you. If you just love laughing,...Read full review »

Other than being a Saints supporter, this book is very close to my own childhood. Laurence’s input is hilarious. I’m do glad I stumbled across this podcast. A must listen for all footy fans.

Hardy and Mooney are now one of the great comedy duo’s of our time. They seamlessly bounce off one another as if they were joined at the hip. Love the podcast but the live show had me crying with laughter.

I’ve started to answer my phone to certain mates “small penis helpline, how can I help you?” after hearing this on one of the episodes, this is a very funny podcast I love it, highly recommend

Matthew’s book is as rare as Hen’s Teeth and slippery as a Butcher’s proverbial to get a copy of so this podcast is perfect. Complimented by the very clever Lawrence Mooney, one of Australia’s finest Comedians. Worth getting into a Fruitshop Imbruglio for.

Was Robert Klomp the last player to be traded in mid season? Vin Cattogio painted my friends house in Brunswick about 10 years ago. My friend was a bridesmaid at Bruce Duperuzels wedding. Cheers, Charles

The high water mark of podcasts. If you’re not from Melbourne and not a footy tragic, you probably won’t get it. Stiff cheese as we said in the 70s.

Who in their right mind at the RBA thought “yes, let’s employ Mathew Hardy!”

Like the great show Car Talk which was ostensibly about cars but is actually the repartee of two hilarious guys razzing each other and riffing on life, memories, people, places. Excellent.

Plato? Who’s he play for? 😂 I’ve read the book three times. It still makes me laugh, and in certain beautifully written parts, cry. The podcast is having the same effect. Brilliant.

Such a great and relatable podcast. Nothing beats walking the dog with air pods in and laughing out loud uncontrollably to yourself whilst waiting in anticipation to share and re-tell the antics that you have just listened to with the next appreciative soul…… well done boys!!!

So many of these stories take me back to my time as a kid going to Linton St with the old man. Whilst I’m a decade younger, the very late eighties and early 90’s harbour so many great memories, non more so than catching the train for away games. My only regret was that my old man bluntly...Read full review »
